I ran my 5 mile route today. I did seven intervals of 3 min 30 secs each and one long interval of 5 min 45 secs. Five minute walking warmup, 8 minutes walking cool down. No sprinting (my trainer wasn't with me). As each 3'30" interval covers about 3 and 1/2 old intervals of 100 yards, I covered 30 old intervals of 100 yards each. No problem breathing, unlike running my 2.3 mile route yesterday, when I was continually short of breath when running only 2 minute intervals. What made the difference? No idea. Weather?
I fell today, after my fourth interval, which was the interval up New Park Hill and spanned 5'45". I misplaced my left foot when transitioning from the road surface up a driveway onto a concrete sidewalk. My foot was only half on the sideway and my ankle gave out. I spilled onto the concrete, scrapping my right arm. Copious bright red blood. Very pretty, actually, I thought then as I watched it pour out of the fifty-cent sized piece of torn skin; my blood must have good iron content. Anyway, I then did my normal 3'30" walk beween running intervals to test the ankle. All seemed well, so I resumed my interval running.
